For most of my working life, I ran a successful construction business built entirely through word-of-mouth and trusted relationships.
After contracting COVID, I developed long COVID. It completely changed things. I found myself stuck in a chronic health situation I simply couldn’t move forward from. I reached a point where I had to close the business and stop working, with no income coming in.
For over a year, I was under the NHS long COVID clinic, looking for answers and trying to find a way forward. A private consultant was paid to assess my health. Their conclusion was stark. I would likely never return to full-time work and might only manage part-time work in the future. That was a devastating moment, but I kept thinking there has to be another way.
Eventually I came across an article about people living with chronic conditions like long COVID and ME, exploring what I tend to describe as the mind–body connection in practice — how stress, beliefs, nervous system responses and health can influence each other. It resonated, so I decided to explore it properly.
I signed up to a course created by Dr Phil Parker. No medication. No miracle cure. Just learning how those interactions work — and how to work with them rather than against them.
Today I’m living symptom-free. My health, confidence, direction and energy all shifted. And while I would never wish that experience on anyone, I am genuinely grateful for where it ultimately led me, because it opened the door to work that now feels meaningful and purposeful.
That experience led me to train professionally in NLP and hypnotherapy in one of the many courses Phil Parker has to offer and teach. I realised how powerful it can be when people understand their own mind–body responses — and I love being able to support others as they find their own way forward.
Whether that’s confidence, stress, health worries, phobias, life transitions, or simply wanting to feel more like themselves again.
It’s practical, grounded work. Nothing mystical — just understanding how the mind and body interact, and learning useful techniques you can carry forward into everyday life.
One question I was asked early on has always stayed with me: “Am I living my best life?”
It’s a simple question — but sometimes a powerful one.
If any of this resonates with you, you’re always welcome to…
Starting something new can feel like a big step — so I keep things relaxed, friendly and straightforward.
Most first sessions begin with a gentle introduction to what I do and how this kind of coaching works. You don’t need any prior knowledge of NLP or hypnotherapy — I’ll explain everything in plain English, and you’re free to ask anything.
Confidentiality is really important to me. What we talk about stays between us, so you can speak openly and honestly.
From there, the focus is simply on you.
We talk about what’s been going on, what’s brought you here, and what you’d like to feel different moving forward. I’ll ask some questions so I can properly understand things from your perspective — there’s no judgement, just a supportive conversation.
Once we’re clear on that, we start looking at outcomes — what positive change would look like for you, not just what you want to move away from, but what you want more of instead.
Most first sessions include a simple practical exercise. Nothing dramatic — just a straightforward technique to show how quickly your mind and body can respond when you have the right tools. People often find this encouraging because they experience a shift straight away.
We finish by reflecting on what you’ve noticed, what you’ve learned, and what feels useful to build on going forward.
Above all, the first session is about helping you feel comfortable, understood and clear about the direction ahead.
